<br />RESOLUTION NO. 86-119 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the United Stated Congress has passed the Land <br />and Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965 (Public Law 88-578), <br />authorizing the Secretary of the Interior to provide finan- <br />cial assistance to states, and political subdivisions <br />thereof, for outdoor recreation purposes; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Texas Legislature has adopted Chapter 13 <br />of the Parks and Wildlife Code for the purpose of allowing <br />the State of Texas, and its political subdivisions, to <br />participate in the Federal program established under said <br />Public Law 88-578, or such other programs as are hereinafter <br />established by the Federal Government; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris is eligible to make applica- <br />tion for funds from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department <br />for the purpose of constructing a picnic shelter, a multi- <br />purpose court, a playground area and a paved parking area in <br />Culbertson Park in the 1300 block of East Hearon Street, <br />Paris, Texas; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris deems it <br />to be in the best interest of the citizens of Paris to seek <br />such assistance; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, an application for such grant assistance in <br />the amount of $32,579.00 being a 50% grant, should be made; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. That the City Council of the City of Paris, <br />Paris, Texas, hereby certifies that the City <br />of Paris is eligible to receive assistance <br />under Public Law 88-578, as augmented by <br />Chapter 13 of the Parks and Wildlife Code. <br /> <br />2. That an application be made to the Texas <br />Parks and Wildlife Department for a grant in <br />the amount of $32,579.00, being a 50% grant, <br />for constructing a picnic shelter, a multi- <br />purpose court, a playground area, and a paved <br />parking area in Culbertson Park, a public <br />outdoor recreation area located in the 1300 <br />block of East Hearon Street. <br /> <br />3. That, Michael E. Malone, City Manager, be, <br />and he ~s hereby designated Certifying <br />Representative and is hereby authorized and <br />directed to execute and deliver on behalf of <br />the City of Paris the application to the <br />Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for said <br />improvements to Culbertson Park. <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />That W. <br />and he <br />City's <br /> <br />E.
