ORDINANCE NO. 2022-012 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING CHAPTER 7, ARTICLE 7.02, SECTION 7.02.001, OF THE CODE <br />OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS TO CHANGE THE TITLE <br />OF THE HEAD OF EMS FROM "DIRECTOR" TO "CHIEF"; MAKING OTHER <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; PROVIDING A <br />REPEALER CLAUSE, A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND <br />DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the Emergency Medical Services Chapter 7, Article 7.02, Section <br />7.02.001, in the City of Paris Code of Ordinances lists the head of the Emergency Medical <br />Service as Director; and, <br />WHEREAS, EMS Director Russell Thrasher and the City Manager would like to <br />change the title to more correlate to the Fire and Police Department's titles from Director <br />to Chief; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council at a regularly scheduled meeting on March 14, 2022, <br />hereby recommends and approves the change in Emergency Medical Service Department <br />Head in the City of Paris Code of Ordinances from Director to Chief to correlate with the <br />Fire and Police Department Heads; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby <br />in all things approved. <br />Section 2. That Article 7.02, Section 7.02.001 of Chapter 7 of the City of Paris <br />Code of Ordinances hereby be changed as follows: <br />"Sec. 7.02.001- Department created <br />There is hereby created in accordance with Section 2S of the charter of the city the <br />department of emergency medical service, which may be abbreviated "EMS," whose head <br />shall be known as the Chief of emergency medical service." <br />Section 3. That all provisions of the ordinances of the City of Paris, Texas in <br />conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed, and all other provisions <br />of the ordinances of the City of Paris not in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance <br />shall remain in full force and effect. <br />Section 4. That the repeal of any ordinance or part of ordinances affected by the <br />enactment of this ordinance shall not be construed as abandoning any action now pending <br />under or by virtue of such ordinance or as discontinuing, abating, modifying, or altering <br />any penalty accruing or to accrue, or as affecting any rights of the municipality under any <br />
