No. 14 <br />TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem & City Council <br />Grayson Path, City Manager <br />FROM: Andrew Mack, Director of Planning and Community Development <br />Duke McGee, Chief Building Official <br />SUBJECT: DEVELOPMENT PROCESS <br />DATE: April 11, 2022 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The following is an overview memo from the City's new Building Official Duke McGee. Mr. <br />McGee brings a wealth of experience in the building inspection and construction industry since <br />joining our Community Development Team late last year. Duke has a passion for systems <br />organization on the building and development processes and he has been hard at work developing <br />a Building and Development Manual for Paris. It is our intent to utilize this tool to not only <br />improve the quality of communications with our development customer base, but to also <br />substantially improve the level of consistency across the board for the building and development <br />process. Duke will be providing a presentation to Council later tonight. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: <br />On April 1, 2022, City Staff initiated a new On -Line Permitting, Management and Information <br />System to better assist the general public, developers, contractors, engineering and architectural <br />firms through the development process. <br />The permitting system, as defined in the Development Process Manual has now been implemented <br />and integrated into the City's MyGov software suite. <br />The goals of this system are: <br />• Increase customer service, <br />• Improve interdepartmental communication, <br />• Promote healthy and safe development, <br />• Expedite permit issuance, <br />• Observe all regulatory and compliance rules, and to <br />
