Item No. 17 TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro -Tem & City Council Grayson Path, City Manager FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT DATE: August 8, 2022 BACKGROUND: The Board of Adjustment is created by State Law and codified under Section 16-100 of the City Zoning Ordinance. This Section states in part: "there is hereby created a Board of Adjustment consisting of five (5) members, each to be appointed by resolution of the City Council for a term of two years." The City Council may appoint two alternate members of the Board of Adjustment who shall serve in the absence of one or more of the regular members when requested to do so by the Mayor or City Manager. STATUS OF ISSUE: At the City Council meeting of June 27, 2022, it was the consensus of City Council to re -advertise for the three regular board member vacancies on this board. Staff re -advertised and received an additional three applications. To date, we have received applications from the following persons: Lydia Fitzgerald David Hamilton (currently serving as an alternate but desires to be a regular board member) Jerry Harting (currently serving on this board) Alix Putnam William Sanders (currently serving on this board) Should Mr. Hamilton be appointed to serve as a regular board member, we will replace his alternate position with one of the other applicants. BUDGET: N/A RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution appointing/re-appointing three regular board members.
