RESOLUTION NO. 84 -026 <br />WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified voters <br />of Wards 1, 2, 3 and 6 of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, <br />on the 7th day of April, 1984, for the purpose of voting for <br />and electing the Councilmen from each of said Wards to serve <br />as members of the City Council for the ensuing two (2) <br />years, to -wit: <br />1. Councilman From Ward One (1) <br />2. Councilman From Ward Two (2) <br />3. Councilman From Ward Three (3) <br />4. Councilman From Ward Six (6) <br />WHEREAS, as required by Order of the District Court of <br />the United States for the Eastern District of Texas, Paris <br />Division, in Civil Action No. P- 75 -3 -CA, and as provided in <br />the Charter of the City of Paris and the laws of the State <br />of Texas wherein they do not conflict with said Order, such <br />election was conducted and held at four (4) specified and <br />designated polling places, that is one polling place in Ward <br />1, 2, 3, and 6 of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and, <br />WHEREAS, sealed returns of said election, made by the <br />duly appointed and designated election officials of and for <br />the four (4) respective voting boxes, have been made to the <br />Mayor and City Council of the City of Paris, as required by <br />law, which returns after due and deliberate review and <br />canvass thereof, show the following results of said <br />election, to -wit: <br />(1) IN WARD ONE (1) A TOTAL OF 55 VOTES WERE CAST FOR <br />COUNCILMAN FROM WARD ONE (1) AS FOLLOWS: <br />George Fisher, Jr. 55 votes; <br />Write -In Candidates �— votes. <br />(2) IN WARD TWO (2) A TOTAL OF 95 VOTES WERE CAST FOR <br />COUNCILMAN FROM WARD TWO (2) T=LLOWS: <br />Walter F. Williams 66 votes; <br />Roger L. Woods 24 votes; <br />Melvin J. Thielman 2 votes; <br />Write -In Candidates 0 votes. <br />(3) IN WARD THREE (3) A TOTAL OF 143 VOTES WERE CAST FOR <br />COUNCILMAN FROM WARD THREE (3)�S FOLLOWS: <br />Billy Joe Burnett <br />Bernard W. Knight <br />Write -In Candidates <br />80 votes; <br />62 votes; <br />votes. <br />(4) IN WARD SIX (6) A TOTAL OF 41 VOTES WERE CAST FOR <br />COUNCILMAN FROM WARD SIX (6 AS <br />Donald G. Wilson <br />Write -In Candidates <br />39 votes; <br />—i votes. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF PARIS, that from the above and foregoing canvass <br />of the returns of the votes in the four (4) respective <br />voting boxes in such election, it is declared and determined <br />that George Fisher is the person receiving the highest <br />number of votes of the votes cast at such election for <br />Councilman From Ward One (1) , and is therefore elected to <br />serve as Councilman From Ward One (1) and as a member of the <br />City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) <br />years; that Walter F. Williams is the person receiving the <br />
