RESOLUTION NO. 2022-066 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION FOR THE BULLET - <br />RESISTANT SHIELD GRANT PROGRAM FOR THE FISCAL YEAR <br />2023; AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO EXECUTE ANY <br />AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR APPLICATION FOR SAID <br />GRANT; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED <br />TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Paris, Texas finds it in the <br />best interest of the citizens of Paris, Texas that the Paris Police Department <br />operate the Bullet -Resistant Shield Program Grant during the Fiscal Year -2023; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of <br />the Office of the Governor funds, the funds will be returned to the Office of the <br />Governor in full; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council designates the Chief of Police as the <br />grantee's authorized official, with the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter, or <br />terminate the grant on behalf of the applicant agency. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution <br />are hereby in all things approved. <br />Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Paris, Texas approves of <br />the submission of the grant application for the Bullet -Resistant Shield Program <br />Grant (Grant Number 4605201) to the Office of the Governor. <br />Section 3. That the City Council authorizes the Chief of Police as the <br />Grantee's authorized official and he is hereby, appointed as the Authorized <br />Official of said project and is authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of the <br />City of Paris, any documents for the acceptance, rejection, alteration, or <br />termination of said grant. <br />Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date <br />of passage. <br />
