Vine, Assistant City Manager Public Works Director, Michael Smith SUBJECT: Amending Appendix A "Fee Schedule" Water and Sewer Tap Fees DATE: January 9, 2023 BACKGROUND: City Council approved adoption of an ordinance amending the Community Development Building and Planning & Zoning, Public Works, Fire and Engineering Permit and Services Fees at the December 12, 2022 regular meeting. In this proposed ordinance, the fee for the Water and Sewer Taps had not been changed from the current charge amount. STATUS OF ISSUE: Staff is proposing a $400 increase for both the Water and Sewer Tap fees. The current prices were set approximately ten years ago and the justification for this raise is due to the rising costs in items associated with the performance of this task, i.e. material, fuel and staff. The $400 increase was inadvertently left off of the ordinance presented to the City Council on December 12, 2022. BUDGET: If approved, these new tap fees would have a moderate, positive impact on the budget and would better enable the City to recoup the expenses of performing these specific tasks. OPTIONS: 1. Approve the amendment to the Ordinance increasing the Water and Sewer Tap fees by $400 each 2. Do not approve the amendment. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval amending Appendix A to the Ordinance increasing the Water and Sewer Tap fees by $400 each.
