0 <br /> <br /> <br /> Chairman Cecil asked the members of the Board to look at the <br /> proposed Advertising Marketing Plan and you will note that one <br /> of the items, and as Mr. Vest has explained, needs to be <br /> considered at this point. Chairman Cecil stated based on Mr. <br /> Vest's recommendation he felt that this expenditure should be <br /> considered at the next meeting. Mr. Vest stated he only became <br /> aware of the "Outlook Texas" yesterday, and he felt this was an <br /> opportunity that should not be passed up. Chairman Cecil <br /> stated to Mr. Vest that if the Chamber of Commerce felt it was <br /> appropriate to make this expenditure, there has been no <br /> discussion that would lead him to believe that the Board would <br /> vote against it at the January meeting. <br /> <br /> Ex-Officio boardmember Bill Vaughan asked Mr. Vest to ask if <br /> there was any interest in the Transportation Program. Mr. Vest <br /> advised that transportation was a major issue which directly <br /> effects economic development. Mr. Vest said they will be going <br /> to Longview in February to make a presentation to the Texas <br /> Department of Transportation to try to get U.S. 271 upgraded <br /> from a two-lane to a four-lane highway which would help our <br /> local industries and our future industrial prospects Mr. Vest <br /> advised that they do have letters of support from all of our <br /> major industries that support the project. Mr. Vest said they <br /> will need the support of this Board for this presentation on <br /> February 23, 1995. Mr. Vest stated he would get some <br /> information out to the board members regarding this meeting. <br /> Mr. Vaughan advised that Leadership Lamar County had decided to <br /> take this as a project, so they will be involved in getting <br /> individuals to attend for the meeting to show support. Mr. <br /> Vaughan stated it is not resolved at this point as to how much <br /> money is needed for the presentation, but they hoped the board <br /> would leave that open in case they do have shortfall and they <br /> could reapproach this group.
