222 <br /> <br /> Vice President Fendley asked Mr. Vest to make his report. Mr. <br /> Vest advised that due to advertising they had received several <br /> inquiries since the' last meeting and they had good prospect <br /> activity this past month. Mr. Vest said at the last meeting <br /> they had discussed railbanking and what was occurring with the <br /> Texas Northeastern Railroad. He said they started taking up <br /> the rail last week, and the abandonment issue has been approved. <br /> <br /> County Judge Superville stated he would like to discuss the <br /> Texas Workforce Development Board for our nine county region in <br /> Northeast Texas which includes nine county judges and <br /> Texarkana's mayor. He said last week they decided to convene <br /> on February 15, 1996, in Titus County to sign a letter of <br /> intent to form the regional workforce board. He said that this <br /> workforce board is a consolidation of all of the state programs <br /> that perform job training functions in Texas. He said they <br /> would like to put local industrial individuals on the board who <br /> will keep us informed as to what is needed in the area of <br /> workforce and training. Mr. Vest said we are very fortunate <br /> that Judge Superville has taken a position of interest in <br /> connection with this Workforce Board and Lamar County. Vice <br /> President Fendley said he felt this was very important, and the <br /> Board supports Judge Superville, Mr. Bobby Walters, and Mr. <br /> Vest and asked them to keep the Board advised on this matter. <br /> <br /> Vice President Fendley asked City Engineer Earl Smith to give <br /> his report. City Engineer Smith said that he had a video <br /> showing how the BITCO site is progressinq.
