Change can be
good or bad, look at Babcock & Wilcox or Campbell Soup and PACE.
Our job as the economic development corporation for Paris is to
embrace change and make it work to our advantage. People of
goodwill through their civic-mindedness can come to agreement for
the betterment of our community even though there may be
disagreement.

The long term overall economic development program of the
PEDC is a strong and solid strategic plan. Utilizing this plan and
incorporating it into an annual program of work means setting goals
such as expanding our number of manufacturing jobs, growing our
population, increasing our gross product, increasing our tourism
activity and capitalizing on the impact of our retirement commtmity.
In order to accomplish the goals and objectives of the PEDC, we must
have complete and entire community support. Not only do we need
the moral and verbal support of each and every citizen of Lamar
County, but also fiscal and legislative support of the City, County,
School Districts and Paris Junior College.

We can be assured that nobody else is going to do the economic
development of Paris and Lamar County for us. The days of TU
Electric carrying our program and our banner are over.
