FIREWORKS. Any composition or device for the purpose of producing a visible or an audible <br />effect for entertainment purposes by combustion, deflagration, detonation, and/or activated by <br />ignition with a match or other heat producing device that meets the definition of 1.3G <br />fireworks or 1AG fireworks. (Remainder of text unchanged)... <br />HIGH -PILED COMBUSTIBLE STORAGE: add a second paragraph to read as follows: Any <br />building classified as a group S Occupancy or Speculative Building exceeding 6,000 sq. ft. that has <br />a clear height in excess of 14 feet, making it possible to be used for storage in excess of 12 feet, <br />shall be considered to be high -piled storage. When a specific product cannot be identified <br />(speculative warehouse), a fire protection system and life safety features shall be installed as for <br />Class IV commodities, to the maximum pile height. <br />HIGH-RISE BUILDING. A building with an occupied floor located more than 35feet (10.668 mm) <br />above the lowest level of fire department vehicle access. <br />OPEN BURNING. The burning of materials wherein products of combustion are emitted directly <br />into the ambient air without passing through a stack or chimney from an enclosed chamber. Open <br />burning does not include road flares, smudge pots and similar devices associated with safety or <br />occupational uses typically considered open flames, or use of portable outdoor fireplaces. For the <br />purpose of this definition, a chamber shall be regarded as enclosed when, during the time <br />combustion occurs, only apertures, ducts, stacks, flues or chimneys necessary to provide <br />combustion air and permit the escape of exhaust gas are open. Recreational fires and bonfires <br />are types of open burning. <br />REPAIR GARAGE. A building, structure or portion thereof used for servicing or repairing motor <br />vehicles. This occupancy shall also include garages involved in minor repair, modification and <br />servicing of motor vehicles for items such as lube changes, inspections, windshield repair or <br />replacement, shocks, minor part replacement, and other such minor repairs. <br />SELF-SERVICE STORAGE FACILITY. Real property designed and used for the purpose of renting <br />or leasing individual storage spaces to customers for the purpose of storing and removing <br />personal property on a self-service basis. <br />STANDBY PERSONNEL. Qualified fire service personnel, approved by the Fire Chief. When <br />utilized, the number required shall be as directed by the Fire Code Official. Charges for utilization <br />shall be as normally calculated by the jurisdiction. <br />UPGRADED OR REPLACED FIRE ALARM SYSTEM. A fire alarm system that is upgraded or <br />replaced includes, but is not limited to the following: <br />• Replacing one single board or fire alarm control unit component with a newer model <br />• Installing a new fire alarm control unit in addition to or in place of an existing one <br />• Conversion from a horn system to an emergency voice/alarm communication system <br />• Conversion from a conventional system to one that utilizes addressable or analog devices <br />
