WHEREAS, on June 26, 2023, the City Council of the City of Paris, after notice
<br />and publication as required by law, conducted a public hearing on the aforesaid
<br />proposed amendment to the City zoning ordinance, and having considered the
<br />recommendations of the Planning and Zoning Commission and the testimony and
<br />evidence introduced at said public hearing, found and determined that area
<br />comprising said HD -19 represents significance in history, architecture, and culture
<br />and that the creation of HD -19 as set forth below is appropriate for the area.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
<br />OF PARIS, TEXAS:
<br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are
<br />hereby in all things approved.
<br />Section Z. That the boundaries heretofore established by the Zoning Map and
<br />Ordinance No. 1710 of the City of Paris, Texas, be, and the same are hereby, changed,
<br />and that a Historic Overlay District No. 19 (HD -19) be, and the same is hereby
<br />established on a portion of the city described herein below, as recommended by the
<br />Historic Preservation Commission and the Planning and Zoning Commission, to
<br />include the hereinafter described property, while preserving the respective existing
<br />use and zoning regulations of the property previously designated therein; and that
<br />the boundaries of said Historic Overlay District No. 19 (HD -19) be, and the same are
<br />hereby, established as follows:
<br />SITUATED within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, County of Lamar,
<br />and State of Texas, being the property located on 21 acres to include the 500-
<br />900 Blocks of Pine Bluff Street, the 300-600 Blocks of Fitzhugh Avenue, the
<br />South side of the 600-700 Blocks of E Cherry Street, the east side of the 300
<br />Block of 6th NE, the 300 Block of 8th Street NE, and the addresses 803, 925, and
<br />936 East Booth Street in the City of Paris, Texas being more particularly
<br />described by lot, block, LCAD parcel number, and address in Exhibit A
<br />attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
<br />Section 3. That the Chief Building Official of the City of Paris, be, and he is
<br />hereby, directed to change the Official Zoning Map of the City of Paris, Texas to reflect
<br />the changes set forth in this ordinance.
<br />Section 4. That the City's Historic Preservation Ordinance, Chapter 9, Art.
<br />9.05, City of Paris Code of Ordinances, the City's Design Standards for Historic
<br />Districts located in the City of Paris, Texas and the Secretary of the Interior's
<br />Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, are incorporated herein by
<br />reference and shall apply to the property encompassing the Historic Overlay District
<br />created by this ordinance.
<br />Section 5. That all provisions of the ordinances of the City of Paris, Texas in
<br />conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed, and all other
<br />provisions of the ordinances of the City of Paris not in conflict with the provisions of
<br />this ordinance shall remain in full force and effect.
