Characteristics of websites inaccessible to people with disabilities, include: <br />• Poor color contrast. <br />• Reliance on color to provide information. <br />■ Lack of text alternatives, or alt -text, on images. <br />• No captions on videos. <br />• Inaccessible online forms. <br />• Mouse -only navigation rather than keyboard navigation. <br />Civic Plus offers AudioEye, which is a service that will be imbedded in our website that will bring <br />our site into compliance with ADA requirements, will increase accessibility and reduce liability <br />for the City. <br />With regard to liability, it is helpful to understand that the number of web accessibility lawsuits that <br />were brought to federal court citing Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act <br />(ADA) reached a new record in 2022, with plaintiffs filing 3,255 lawsuits—a 12 percent increase <br />from 2021. <br />AudioEye provided the City of Paris with a promotional offer of 25% off of the regular pricing <br />with this offer expiring on a July 20, 2023, prior to the regular scheduled meeting on July 24, 2023. <br />Staff was approved by the City Manager's Office to enter into this agreement prior to the City <br />Council's approval so this savings could be realized. <br />BUDGET: <br />The 2 -year agreement with AudioEye has a cost of $3,925.50 for the first year and recurring service <br />fee of $5,465.70. <br />OPTIONS: <br />No Action Required – for information only. <br />RECOMMENDATION: No Action Required <br />
