Item No. 22 Memorandum TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro -Tem & City Council Grayson Path, City Manager FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk SUBJECT: ONE APPOINTMENT TO THE MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD DATE: July 24, 2023 BACKGROUND: Pursuant to the Policies and Procedures for Boards & Commissions, City Council made appointments at the June 26, 2023 City Council meeting. STATUS OF ISSUE: On June 26th Chad Lindsey was appointed to the Planning & Zoning Commission while currently serving on the Main Street Advisory Board. This leaves a vacancy on the Main Street Advisory Board. Pursuant to Ordinance No. 2002-033, the City Council shall endeavor, to the extent reasonably available, place a member of Main Street Advisory Board on the Historic Preservation Commission. Tracy Dougherty (regular board member), Arleigh White (regular board member), Seth Johnson (alternate member) and Les Shumake (alternate member) were appointed to the Historic Preservation Commission and all four also applied for the Main Street Advisory. Board. Tracy Dougherty does not wish to be considered for the Main Street vacancy. Arleigh White, Seth Johson and Les Shumake wish to be considered as the Main Street Representative for the Historic Preservation Commission. BUDGET: N/A RECOMMENDATION: Appoint one member to fill the vacant position on the Main Street Advisory Board.
