Item No. 21 <br />Memorandum <br />TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem and City Council <br />Grayson Path, City Manager <br />Robert Vine, Deputy City Manager <br />FROM: Doug Harris, Assistant City Manager <br />SUBJECT: Pickle Ball Courts <br />DATE: November 13, 2023 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />A meeting was held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, to discuss pickle ball courts. In attendance <br />were Councilman Gary Savage; Michael Smith, Director of Public Works; Bill Loranger, Parks <br />Superintendent; Sue Hays and Tommy Felty, representing the local pickle ball group; and Doug <br />Harris, Assistant City Manager. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: <br />Ms. Hays and Mr. Felty have requested the City set aside property at the Sports Complex to <br />construct up to eight (8) pickle ball courts, with costs to be covered by the local pickle ball group. <br />The City will retain both ownership of the property, as well as maintenance of the courts. Ms. <br />Hays will present on overview of their proposal. Details of the proposed project will be <br />coordinated between City staff and the pickle by group. <br />BUDGET: <br />None; presentation only. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />City Council is requested to provide direction to staff for moving forward with the proposal. Not <br />an action item; presentation only. <br />
