Item No. 13 <br />Memorandum <br />TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro -Tem & City Council <br />Grayson Path, City Manager <br />FROM: M.A. Smith, Public Works Director <br />Mike Wade, Streets Department Superintendent <br />SUBJECT: ANNUAL CONCRETE DEMOLITION AND CONSTRUCTION BIDS <br />DATE: April 22, 2024 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />This is the annual bid for curb/gutter, standard driveway approaches, and reinforced concrete <br />sidewalks to be used primarily, but not exclusively, by the Street Division, Water Distribution, <br />Sewer Maintenance, and Parks Divisions of the Public Works Department. If other departments <br />are in need of concrete work, we attempt to utilize bid pricing through this contract as it applies. <br />The bid tabulation sheet is attached for details of the bids. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: <br />The City of Paris Public Works Department received two sealed bids for concrete work and would <br />like to award the bid to the lowest responsible bidder pursuant to Resolution 2020-052 for <br />construction project bidding. Contract period will be from May 1, 2024 through April 30, 2025. <br />The lowest bid was for Pridemore Construction. The City awarded last year's bid to Pridemore as <br />well and is pleased with their performance. <br />BUDGET: <br />Funding is budgeted in the various Public Works Departments' budgets. It is important to note that <br />this is an as -needed agreement. The City only utilizes this agreement when concrete work is <br />needed, therefore the ultimate expenditure will depend on need and budget. The bid is based on <br />estimated and historical quantities in order to give us a means of comparing pricing fairly between <br />bidders given state procurement requires lowest bid in this instance.
