Item No. 23 <br />l � i <br />TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro -Tem & City Council <br />Rob Vine, Interim City Manager <br />FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br />DATE: July 22, 2024 <br />BACKGROUND: The Board of Adjustment is created by State Law and codified under Section <br />16-100 of the City Zoning Ordinance. This Section states in part: "there is hereby created a Board <br />of Adjustment consisting of five (5) members, each to be appointed by resolution of the City <br />Council for a term of two years." The City Council may appoint two alternate members of the <br />Board of Adjustment who shall serve in the absence of one or more of the regular members when <br />requested to do so by the Mayor or City Manager. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: At the July 8, 2024, meeting, the City Council made four appointments to <br />the Board of Adjustment. Those appointed were Harley Draven, David Hamilton, Richard <br />Thompson, and Williams Sanders. One of the positions is an unexpired term and Staff is asking <br />City Council to decide which board member is to serve the unexpired term which is a one-year <br />term. <br />There were not enough applications to fill the two alternate positions, so staff were instructed to <br />re -advertise. Staff began advertising on July 9, 2024, with a deadline to receive applications no <br />later than 9:00 a.m. on July 17, 2024. Applicants are Roxann Hadley, Stacy Ladell, and Jeremy <br />Wilson. <br />BUDGET: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION: Appoint one of the four members selected on July 8, 2024, to serve in <br />the unexpired term, approve a Resolution appointing two alternate board members. <br />
