Item No. 19 <br />Memorandum <br />TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro -Tem & City Council <br />Mr. Robert Vine, Interim City Manager <br />FROM: Gene Anderson, Finance Director <br />SUBJECT: CALLING PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED 2024-25 TAX RATE <br />DATE: August 26, 2024 <br />BACKGROUND: A public hearing on the proposed City tax rate is required by Chapter 26 of the <br />Texas Tax Code. The proposed tax rate was discussed by the City Council during its August 19th <br />budget workshop and its August 26th regular council meeting. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: The City Council needs to adopt a resolution calling for a public hearing <br />on the 2024-25 proposed City tax rate on September 9, 2024. A legal notice of the public hearing <br />will be published in the Paris News on August 29, 2024. A copy of the proposed property tax rate <br />can be found on the City website. <br />BUDGET: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION: Motion to approve the resolution calling for a public hearing on the <br />proposed 2024-25 City tax rate. <br />
