Item No. 16 <br />TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro -Tem & City Council <br />Robert Vine, Interim City Manager <br />FROM: Danny Rowell, Interim Director of Utilities <br />SUBJECT: 2024 DROUGHT CONTINGENCY/WATER CONSERVATION PLAN <br />DATE: August 26, 2024 <br />BACKGROUND: The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requires the holder of an <br />existing permit, certified filing, or certificate of adjudication for the appropriation of surface water <br />in the amount of 1,000 acre-feet or more per year for municipal, industrial, other non -irrigation <br />use and each retail and wholesale public water supplier develop, submit, implement and maintain <br />a Drought Contingency/Water Conservation Plan. The initial plan was adopted by ordinance in <br />2000, followed by ordinance updates in 2005, 2009, 2014 and 2019. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: Updates to the Drought Contingency/Water Conservation are required by <br />the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality every five (5) years. The 2024 plan is an update <br />to existing Ordinance No. 2019-015. <br />BUDGET: There is no fiscal impact on the budget. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Adopt the 2024 Drought Contingency/Water Conservation Plan as a <br />revision to Ordinance No. 2019-015. <br />
