Minutes <br />Traffic Commission <br />City of Paris <br />The Traffic Commission met on Monday July 08, 2024 at 5:15 P.M. in the <br />Municipal Courtroom with the following members present: <br />1. <br />Wendell Moore <br />2. <br />Sandi Kear <br />3. <br />John Darst <br />4. <br />Eric Guillot <br />The city staff was represented by Asst. Chief Randy Tuttle. <br />Sandi Kear called the meeting to order at 5:29pm. A quorum was established <br />with four members present. <br />Ms. Kear then moved to item #2 regarding approval of minutes from the August <br />01, 2023 meeting. Mr. Guillot made a motion to approve the minutes and the <br />second was made by Mr. Moore. Motion passed 4-0. <br />Ms. Kear then moved to item #3 regarding the discussion and possible action <br />concerning a change in school zone speed limit for Paris ISD campuses. Mr. <br />Tuttle informed members that Paris ISD recently approved a change to a four- <br />day instructional period which requires a change in the start and dismissal times <br />for each school. Mr. Tuttle presented an Exhibit A outlining the change of times <br />for school zone speed limits at each campus. After discussion Mr. Darst made a <br />motion to recommend the City Council change the times of school zone speed <br />limits for each Paris ISD campus as presented in Exhibit A. A second was made <br />by Mr. Guillot and motion passed 4-0. <br />Ms. Kear then moved to item #4 regarding the discussion and possible action <br />concerning an addition of a school speed zone and change in school zone speed <br />limit for North Lamar ISD campuses. Mr. Tuttle informed members that North <br />Lamar ISD recently approved a change to a four-day instructional period which <br />requires a change in the start and dismissal times for each school and an <br />additional school speed zone will need to be added on North Lamar Parkway for <br />the new Intermediate school which will open at beginning of 2024-25 school year, <br />Mr. Tuttle presented an Exhibit A outlining the change of times for school zone <br />speed limits at each campus. After discussion Mr. Guillot made a motion to <br />recommend the City Council change the times of school zone speed limits for <br />each North Lamar ISD campus and establish a new school speed zone on North <br />Lamar Parkway as presented in Exhibit A. A second was made by Mr. Moore and <br />motion passed 4-0. <br />
