RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS RENAMING THE BUILDING LOCATED AT 150 1ST STREET SOUTHEAST THE GENE ANDERSON CITY HALL ANNEX; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Gene Anderson began serving as the City's Director of Finance on January 4, 1985 and has served in that capacity ever since; and WHEREAS, in his 40 year tenure with the City, Mr. Anderson has served with distinction, as evidenced by his department's having been awarded the Certificate of Achievement in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association, an association of governmental financial officers in the United States and Canada, 24 times and by the City's strong and stable financial position achieved under his management; and WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson has also served with distinction as Interim City Manager three times in addition to his regular duties; and WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson has made the following major contributions to the City, among others: • Writing the City's Cash Reserve Policy; • Writing the City's Investment Policy; • Writing the City's Water & Sewer Rate Maintenance Policy; • Overseeing a multi-year renovation of the City Hall historic building; and WHEREAS, as other City staff and City Council Members have come and gone, Mr. Anderson has provided decades of institutional memory for the organization and has assisted the City Council and staff members in ways too numerous to count; and WHEREAS, the City owns a building, currently known as the City Hall Annex, located at 150 1st St. SE in the City of Paris; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it to be just and fitting that said building be renamed as the Gene Anderson City Hall Annex in recognition of and thanks for his many years of exemplary service; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved.
