Item No. 8 <br />TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro -Tem & City Council <br />Rose Beverly, City Manager <br />FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: JOINT ELECTION AGREEMENT WITH CHISUM ISD <br />DATE: February 13, 2025 <br />BACKGROUND: Section 11.0581 of the Texas Education Code requires that the Paris <br />Independent School District hold elections on the same date as municipal or county elections. <br />Chapter 271 of the Texas Election Code requires such election shall be held as a joint election. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: Chisum Independent School District has elected to hold their Board of <br />Trustee members' election and on the same date as the City of Paris' general election. <br />BUDGET: The estimate provided by the County Elections Administrator for election services is <br />$8,639.07 for the general election, but this amount will decrease should an election be conducted <br />for one or any of the three school districts on the same date. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution for Chisum Independent School District <br />authorizing a Joint Election Agreement with the City of Paris. <br />
