Item No. 19 <br />TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro -Tem & City Council <br />Rose Beverly, City Manager <br />FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: RESIDENT REQUIREMENTS FOR VARIOUS BOARD & COMMISSIONS <br />DATE: March 24, 2025 <br />BACKGROUND: Since at least 1954, the City has had Boards and Commissions and over time <br />have updated the number of members, responsibilities, residency requirements and things of that <br />nature. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: During board appointments last June, several City Council Members <br />expressed a desire to open membership to Lamar County Residents. <br />Current!y, the following) boards are open to Lamar Coun , residents: <br />Airport Advisory Board <br />Band Commission <br />Paris Economic Development Corporation <br />Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) <br />Boards that are open to Lamar Count residents <br />Housing Authority of Paris (members may live within the City or the area that is within 5 miles of <br />the territorial boundaries of the municipality) <br />The following boards are open to Paris residents only: <br />Board of Adjustment <br />Building Board of Appeals (we have never been able to fill this board because of the requirements <br />of specific Texas licensed trades) <br />Building & Standards Commission <br />Historic Preservation Commission <br />
