She expressed that the PEDC <br />would not be moving forward with the installation of fiber internet, and she was actively working with <br />EST and AL Paving to explore additional avenues to utilize the remaining EDA Grant funds. Mr. Roddy <br />asked what the remaining grant funds to -date were. Ms. Hammond responded that approximately <br />$100,000 remains in grant funding. She opened the floor to recommendations from the Board regarding <br />the use of the remaining funds. Mr. Bray suggested further extending 34th Street and considering <br />options that would benefit American SpiralWeld Pipe. Mr. Roddy suggested concrete work for a future <br />PEDC office. Ms. Hammond noted that she would review and consider all recommendations. <br />Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) No. 1: Ms. Hammond provided an update on the removal of <br />Zone 4 (primarily consisting of the Gene Stallings Business Park) from TIRZ No. 1. She noted that, during <br />the recent TIRZ Advisory Board meeting, City of Paris legal staff was asked to draft an ordinance to this <br />effect, which would require a vote by the Advisory Board during the October board meeting. <br />Turner Industries Job Fair: Ms. Hammond reminded the Board that Turner Industries provided notice <br />that the facility would be closing on September 30, 2025. She noted that Turner Industries requested <br />assistance from the PEDC to coordinate a job fair for its employees, and that notice was sent to primary <br />employers around the Lamar County area. She noted that the job fair was scheduled to take place on <br />September 18, 2025, and that she would provide feedback to the Board when available. <br />East Texas A&M College of Science and Engineering Industry Connect Day: Ms. Hammond noted that <br />the PEDC was coordinating with East Texas A&M to host an Industry Connect Day. She explained that <br />the goal of this event would be to showcase local employers and job opportunities in the area and that <br />the focus of the event would be artificial intelligence. She noted that the tentative date of the event was <br />November 7, 2025, and that additional details would be provided to the Board at a later date. <br />Business Retention and Expansion Site Visitation Program: Ms. Hammond noted that, as time has <br />allowed, the PEDC has continued its Site Visitation Program with local employers. She reminded the <br />Board that the PEDC had begun this program by visiting employers in the trailer manufacturing industry <br />and that these employers had expressed concerns regarding workforce challenges and utilities. She <br />noted that Atmos Energy had provided the PEDC with a form to track employers with natural gas needs <br />and that further updates would be provided at a later date. <br />Ms. Hammond opened the floor to questions regarding her updates.
