Item No. 17
TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem & City Council
FROM: Todd Mittge, City Engineer
SUBJECT: Possible TxDOT Illumination Project — West Entrance Bonham Street
DATE: November 10, 2025
BACKGROUND:
The City explores every option to highlight our beauty, history, and presence in NE Texas.
Representatives with the City of Paris have recently discussed with TxDOT, the possibility of
installing illumination along Bonham Street from the Loop eastward toward 7a` Street NW to
brighten up one of the entrances to our city. TxDOT is going to be resurfacing Bonham Street in
the next year or two, and this project could possibly be included in that if the city wants to
participate in the project.
STATUS OF ISSUE:
Illumination projects involve power distribution, new poles, directional boring, and some
excavation activities. Performing these activities prior to a repaving project makes sense.
TxDOT has provided some scoping estimates of possible costs to install illumination along both
sides of Bonham Street as follows:
Loop 286 to 25h NW — $446,250
