Paris Public Library Advisory Board <br />July 16, 2025 <br />Meeting Minutes <br />1. Call to order at 5:01 p.m. We have not met quorum due to new members not yet <br />swearing in, so no official motions can be made. <br />--Steve explained the purpose of the board to the new members <br />3 purposes of the board—manage gift funds, make recommendations for library <br />services, cooperate with the public to benefit the library. No statutory authority <br />really. Our charge is to meet on the third Wednesday of every month. Special <br />meetings can be called if necessary. Terms are three years. <br />11. Citizen Forum <br />No citizens addressed the board. <br />111. Minutes were not approved due to lack of quorum. <br />1V. New business <br />A. Welcome New board members <br />1. Introductions; Connie Lawman, director; Sandy Keir, new member; <br />Abigail Frank, last year of first term; Jennifer Holje, friends of the library <br />vice president; Mihir Pankaj, mayor/ city council liaison; Audrey Mathieu, <br />friends of the library president; Eva Dickey, board member; Dee Hawkes, <br />new member; Steve Hellmann, president of the board. <br />2. Chairman and secretary appointments were pushed off due to lack of <br />quorum. <br />V. Friends of the Library report <br />--Audrey said she was approached by a community member that said she had <br />tried to reach out to the Paris Public Library and had not reached out. <br />--Audrey explained the purpose of the Friends of the Library to new members. <br />Friends started in the 1980s to fund the expansion and has continued to help <br />with funds like murals, Bookfiix, art competitions, and other things the library <br />needs. <br />VL Director's remarks <br />A.
