WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Texas Transportation Code Chapter 1006 and Texas <br />Administrative Code Title 43, Part 3, Chapter 57, entities are eligible to receive grants from the <br />Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority to provide financial supportto law enforcement agencies <br />for economic automobile theft enforcement teams and to combat motor vehicle burglary in the <br />jurisdiction; and <br />WHEREAS, the Northeast Texas Auto TheftTask Force has a coverage of 8,000 square miles <br />encompassing ten (10) counties in northeast Texas, responsible for investigating all auto thefts, <br />burglary motor vehicle, and related crimes, whether covert or overt; and <br />WHEREAS, the Task Force performs inspections on salvage yards, dealers, repair shops, and <br />scrap metal yards; and <br />WHEREAS, this grant program will assist the City of Paris Police Department in combatting <br />motor vehicle burglary for fiscal year 2027 (September 1, 2026 - August 31, 2027); and <br />WHEREAS, Since 1994, with the assistance of the Auto Burglary and Theft Prevention <br />Authority, the Northeast Texas Auto Theft Task Force has been in existence under this grant to <br />combat motor vehicle burglary and theft; and <br />WHEREAS, City of Paris agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the grant funds, City of <br />Paris assures that the grant funds will be returned in full to the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention <br />Authority. <br />NOW, THEREFORE,RESOLVED BY 1 OF THE CITY OF '' ' ' <br />THAT: <br />Section 1. The findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved and incorporated herein by references for all purposes. <br />
