Item No. 13 <br />Memorandum <br />TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro -Tem & City Council <br />Rose Beverly, City Manager <br />FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: RESIGNATION OF MICKEY ELLIS <br />CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT TWO SEAT <br />DATE: April 27, 2026 <br />BACKGROUND: On April 19, 2026, Mickey Ellis resigned from City Council District Two <br />effective May 11, 2026, leaving a vacant seat. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: Texas Local Government Code § 22.012 reads that "a municipal officer <br />elected or appointed under this chapter may resign by submitting the resignation in writing to the <br />governing body of the municipality. The resignation is subject to the approval and acceptance of <br />the governing body." <br />At the City Council meeting of May 11, 2026, Council will be asked to consider how to proceed <br />with filling the vacant position of City Council District Two. <br />BUDGET: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve and accept the resignation of Mickey Ellis as representative <br />for City Council District Two. <br />
