<br />Add Section 604.3.2 and 604.3.2.1:
<br />604.3.2 Failure to correct electrical hazards; service disconnection.
<br />Where an electrical system hazard identified under Section 604.3 or 604.3.1 is not repaired,
<br />corrected, or otherwise mitigated within the time period specified by the code official, or
<br />where such condition poses an immediate threat to life, safety, or property, the code
<br />official is authorized to order the disconnection of electrical service to the structure until
<br />such hazard has been corrected and approved.
<br />Conditions warranting disconnection may include, but are not limited to:
<br />1. Exposed, damaged, or deteriorated wiring creating shock or fire hazards;
<br />2. Electrical systems or equipment damaged by water exposure and not properly repaired
<br />or replaced;
<br />3. Improper or unsafe electrical installations;
<br />4. Overloaded circuits or inadequate service creating fire risk;
<br />5. Tampering with electrical equipment, meters, or service;
<br />6. Any condition determined by the code official to present an imminent danger to
<br />occupants or the structure.
<br />Disconnection of electrical service shall be coordinated with the serving utility provider.
<br />Restoration of service shall not occur until the hazardous condition has been corrected,
<br />inspected, and approved by the code official and, where applicable, the utility provider.
<br />604.3.2.1 Emergency disconnection authority:
<br />Where an imminent hazard exists, the code official may order immediate disconnection
<br />without prior notice.
