• • , . • • • • <br />• •-� • • • <br />• • <br />- • <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris adopted a temporary Zoning Ordinance in 1942, <br />and ordinances amending the Zoning Ordinance were passed by the City Council in <br />1945, 1957, and 1965; and <br />WHEREAS, additional amendments were added to Zoning Ordinance No. 1710 <br />(April 12, 1965) during 1971 through 1987 and 2012 and in 2016-2021; and <br />WHEREAS, portions of the Paris Zoning Ordinance are outdated, and therefore <br />do not, in certain instances, reflect current and appropriate American zoning practice; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Zoning Ordinance No. 1710 Sec. 8-201(25) provides a definition of <br />"Cottage Industry" to wit: <br />"Cottage Industry - A processing, assembling, packaging, or storage industry, <br />generally employing fewer than 20 persons, conducted wholly within an enclosed <br />building located on a site isolated from other such uses, generating low traffic <br />volumes and with little or no noise, smoke, odor, dust, glare, or vibration <br />detectable at any property line."; and <br />WHEREAS, the City has never designated zoning districts in which a Cottage <br />Industry may be located, either by right or by specific use permit; and <br />WHEREAS, upon review, City Staff has determined that it is advisable to permit <br />Cottage Industries by right in Light Industrial (LI) and Heavy Industrial (HI) zoning <br />districts and with a specific use permit (SUP) in Commercial zoning districts, and has <br />recommended same to the Planning and Zoning Commission; and <br />1 <br />
