2026-029 - Amending a contract with the Texas Department of Public Safety to allow for electronic submissions

RESOLUTION NO. 2026-029 WHEREAS, the Municipal Court of the City of Paris, Texas (the Court) is required by statute to report certain conviction and license suspension information to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS); and WHEREAS, DPS has implemented a new web -based reporting system through which all courts will be required to submit certain information related to their cases beginning on January 1, 2027; and, WHEREAS, DPS has submitted the Interlocal Cooperation Contract attached hereto as Exhibit A for execution by the Court in connection with the implementation of the new system; and, WHEREAS, Texas Government Code Chapter 791 (the Interlocal Cooperation Act) requires all interlocal agreements to be approved by the governing body; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Texas believes that the execution of said Interlocal Cooperation Contract is essential to the lawful and efficient operation of the Court; NOW, sRE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCILOF OF Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved and are incorporated herein by reference. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Paris, Texas hereby approves the terms and conditions of the Interlocal Cooperation Contract attached hereto as Exhibit A and authorizes the City Manager to execute same on behalf of the City and of the Court. Section 3. That this resolution shall be effective immediately upon passage.
