ORDINANCE NW026-034 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, RATIFYING THE PROPERTY TAX REVENUE INCREASE REFLECTED IN THE 2026-27 FISCAL YEAR BUDGET FOR SAID PERIOD; PROVIDING A REPEALER CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Section 102.007 of the Texas Local Government Code provides in part that the adoption of a budget that will require raising more revenue from property taxes than in the previous year requires a separate vote of the governing body to ratify the property tax increase reflected in the budget; and WHEREAS, Section 102.007 of the Texas Local Government Code requires that this ratification be in addition to and separate from the vote to adopt the budget or a vote to set the tax rate required by Chapter 26, Texas Tax Code, or other law; and WHEREAS, the budget of the City of Paris, Texas (the "City"), for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2026 and ending September 30, 2027, a true and correct copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A and made a part hereof for all purposes (the "2026-27 Fiscal Year Budget"), as adopted, requires raising more revenue from property taxes than in the previous year, and the City Council desires by adoption of this ordinance to ratify the property tax increase reflected in the 2026-27 Fiscal Year Budget. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings and recitals set forth above are hereby found to be true and correct and are incorporated herein for all purposes. Section 2. That the City Council, as the governing body of the City of Paris, Texas, having adopted the 2026-27 Fiscal Year Budget that will require raising more revenue from property taxes than in the previous year, hereby ratifies the property tax increase reflected in the 2026-27 Fiscal Year Budget with the following declaration: THIS BUDGET WILL RAISE MOREPROPERTY TAXES THAN LAST YEAR'S BUDGET BY AN AMOUNT O PROPERTY$3,070,357, WHICH IS A 24.50 PERCENT INCREASE FROM LAST YEAR'S BUDGET. That the City Manager, or the City Manager's designee, shall complete and attach to the 2026-27 Fiscal Year Budget, attached as Exhibit A to this ordinance, a cover page containing all the information required by Texas Local Government Code § 102.007(d).
