<br />RESOLUTION NO. 94-011 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation provides 90 % funding for airport <br />improvement grants; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing a grant <br />preapplication and application for the installation of lighted guidance signs on Runway 17/35 at <br />Cox Field Airport, at a total cost of $75,050.00, with $67,545.00 to be provided by grant and <br />$7,505.00 to be provided by the City of Paris in the form of local contribution; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation requires that it be designated the <br />agent for the City of Paris for the purposes of receiving and disbursing all funds for these <br />improvements and for the administration of contracts necessary for the implementation of said <br />improvements; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS the safety of the flying public dictates the immediate installation of the <br />lighted guidance signs at Cox Field Airport, and that it is appropriate that an emergency be <br />declared and that the City's required participation in said project be funded from the contingency <br />appropriations account; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL 0.' THE CITY 0.' PARIS: <br /> <br />1. That a preapplication be made to the Texas Department of Transportation for an <br />improvement grant in the amount of $67,545.00, being approximately 90 % of the estimated cost <br />of the installation of lighted guidance signs on Runway 17/35 at Cox Field Airport, with the City <br />of Paris providing $7,505.00 in funds. <br /> <br />2. That Michael E. Malone, City Manager of the City of Paris, be, and he is hereby <br />appointed as the Authorized Representative of said project and is authorized and directed to <br />execute on behalf of the City of Paris the application for grant in the form attached hereto as <br />Exhibit A. <br /> <br />3. That Dick Boots, Director of Community Facilities, be, and he is hereby <br />appointed as Project Director and is hereby authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of the <br />City of Paris all reports, communications, assurances and documents necessary for the <br />completion of said project. <br /> <br />4. That the Texas Department of Transportation, be, and it is hereby, authorized and <br />directed to serve as the City of Paris' agent for the purposes of receiving and disbursing all <br />funds for the installation of lighted guidance signs on Runway 17/35 at Cox Field Airport and <br />for the administration of contracts necessary for the implementation of said improvements. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that an emergency be, and the same is hereby declared <br />in order to provide safety to the flying public by the installation of lighted guidance signs on <br />Runway 17/35 at Cox Field Airport. <br />
