Proposed Project Activities (See Instructions on pages 14.a and 14.b.) <br /> <br />(a.) Our goal for the ne),.1 year ,vill be to reduce the auto ~heft rate in the proposed aiea by rive <br />percent. The rate dropped approximately t\vemy-three percem last year. We will coordinate <br />the investigations and training with the other agencies. <br /> <br />(b.) <br /> <br />(c. ) <br /> <br />(d.) <br /> <br />(e.) <br /> <br />(f. ) <br /> <br />(g.) <br /> <br />Our program covers the following counties: FanniIl: Lamar: Red River, Titus: Franklin, <br />Hopkins: and Deha. This year we have assisted in Grayson and Bowie counties. We sbow <br />an assist if we are not the lead agency. Our unit does not duplicate any record. <br /> <br />Our goal \\ill cominue to be to reduce the rate of theft in our area. \Ve will accomplish this <br />bv coordinatinQ all investiQations \\;tb the necessan: aQencies. We \\i11 also Strive to educate <br />~ ""'"'..... .. ..... <br /> <br />the officers and the public about ways to help prevent auto theft. \Ve are the only full-time <br />auto theft unit in the Nonbeast Texas Area. We work close}\' with the local taX offices to <br />maintain a link with the commercial sales of vehicles. \Ve \\ill coordinate effons with the <br />Texas D.P.S. M.\i.T.S. to tarQet the saJvaQe vards. <br />... ... . <br /> <br />The Detective Sergeant and the Inves+~gator will continue to use one hundred percent of their <br />time to enforce all auto theft laws, maintain records: and educate the public. <br /> <br />Last year's theft rate dropped by approximately twenty-three percent. There are <br />approximately 200:000 vehicles registered in the seven counties we cover. The General <br />Motors pickup is still the most stolen vehicle in our area. The owner of this type vehicle in <br />our area is the most difficult to re~ister in the H.E.A.T. Pro~ram. \Ve will continue to <br />- ... <br /> <br />anempt to make the public aware of the B.E.A. T. <br /> <br />The Ciw of Paris has several onQoinQ Qrants at this time. such as the ReQional DruQ Task <br />. -- ...... ..... ~ ........... <br /> <br />Force: Police Athletic League, Juvenile Gang Offic.ers: Community Policing Program, School' <br />Resource Officers: and the Family Violence Officer. <br /> <br />.All statistics are received from monthly UCR repons. Our quanerly repons are used to <br />compile the year end. There has been a reduction of the auto theft rate since the inception <br />of this program by over twenty-three percent in the seven counties: and over thiny percent <br />in the Citv of Paris. <br />
