<br />Governmental Activities

<br />Governmental activities increased the City of Paris' net assets by $4,287,503 during the current fiscal year. This
<br />increase resulted from substantial decreases in the operating expenses of governmental activities, increasing charges
<br />for providing those services, and transferring debt previously reported as governmental activity that correctly should
<br />be shown as a business-type activity. General revenues were up $2,490,757 or 17.5%. This unusually large increase
<br />was due to a non-reoccurring special item that reduced general revenues in 2004 as well as increases in property and
<br />sales taxes. Franchise taxes were up due to the collection of a previously disputed amount with a gas utility.
