<br />RESOLUTION NO. 98-037
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 23rd day of
<br />November, 1996, in Resolution No. 96-029, authorize three applications to be made to the Texas
<br />Department of Housing and Community Affairs for the Community Development Fund Grant
<br />under the Young v. Cisneros Texas Community Development Program (TCDP) for three projects,
<br />two of which are:
<br />
<br />(1) Curb and gutter, street paving, and drainage on 6th Street N.E. from Garrett Street
<br />to Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, and
<br />
<br />(2) Clearing and grubbing, rough grading, and appurtenant drainage work to ready
<br />project site for street construction on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive extension from 6th
<br />Street N.E. to North Main Street.; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the grant was awarded on the 24th day of September, 1996, by the execution
<br />of TCDP Young vs. Cisneros Contract, No. 715246; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore authorize the preparation
<br />of plans and specifications for the two street and drainage improvement projects; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, such plans and specifications have been prepared by Earl Smith, City
<br />Engineer, with the title being given thereto of the "Street and Drainage Improvements, 6th
<br />Street N.E. from E. Garrett Street to Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and Clearing,
<br />Grubbing, and Grading of Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive from 6th Street N.E. to North
<br />Main Street, TCDP Young v, Cisneros Contract, No. 715246" Project, which plans and
<br />specifications are recommended for approval by the City Engineer of the City of Paris; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that such plans and specifications be approved and
<br />that such project be authorized for advertisement for bids; NOW, THEREFORE,
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that the
<br />plans and specifications for the "Street and Drainage Improvements, 6th Street N .E. from E.
<br />Garrett Street to Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and Clearing, Grubbing, and Grading of
<br />Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive from 6th Street N.E. to North Main Street, TCDP Young v,
<br />Cisneros Contract, No. 715246" Project be, and the same are hereby, approved; and,
<br />
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that such street and drainage improvement project be
<br />advertised for bids to be received after due notice at the office of the City Manager of the City of
<br />Paris, City Hall, 135 1st Street S.E., Paris, Texas 75460, until 3:00 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday,
<br />March 31, 1998, at which time said bids will be opened in the City Council Chamber, City Hall,
<br />135 1st Street S.E., Paris, Lamar County, Texas, and bids will be tabulated and presented to the
<br />City Council on the 13th day of April, 1998, for the purpose of letting such bid.
