<br />SECTION 4 <br />Portable Radios <br /> <br />Fourteen portable radios, 14 spare batteries, 14 swivel carry cases <br />and 14 standard rate desk type drop in chargers are desired. <br />Portable radios shall be synthesized, wideband, minimum 8 channel, <br />UhP 4 watt rU0Cjeu t,WO-\-lCly Fr~ radios. Standard programmable features <br />shall include tone and digital coded 'squelch on a per channel Lasis, <br />selective call decode, carrier control timer, <br /> <br />Transmitter and receiver shall be operated from a single battery <br />source. The pewer su~Vly shall be a recbar geable nickel cadium <br />battery pack. The battery shall be securely fastened to the bottom <br />of the rac1io lJY neans of a quick release slide and snap arrangement. <br />No. coins or tools or other mechnical ~evices shall be needed to change <br />a battery. It 511':111 be ca~able of operating tI!c radio set for a <br />rainimum cf 8 hours L\ctHeen chargcs .:It the 5~ transmit,S t receive, <br />90~ standLy ~llty cycle at maximum rated RF output. A 1200 mah bJttery <br />minimur.1 is desired. The en-off s\o:itch shall be an integral part of <br />the battery ro~er supply; this is to eliminate the hazards attendant <br />with inadvertant contact with foreign materials such as keys, live <br />anu~lUni tion and ether conductors. <br /> <br />Portable radios shall ~let EIA standards & U.S. Forest Service <br />specifications and MIL-STD-OIO C & D vibration ~nd shock standards. <br /> <br />'rhe channel information and function programming shall be deternined <br />by a battery buck-up RAN to allow rapid field programming of the <br />radio. Pro~r.nmmcd information shall remain in memory when the radio is <br />turned ofr or \Jhen the ea ttery is removeu from the unit. E squared <br />technolo~y shnll be utilized~ <br /> <br />RF progrnmning shall only be Jccomplished by means of a seperate <br />prograrmncr. 'rhis requirement is to eliminate any illegal or unauthorized <br />re-progranunin0 of the radio. <br />
