<br />JUVENILE OFFICER/JUVENILE GANG OFFICER JOB DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />The duties and responsibilities of the Juvenile Officer/Juvenile Gang Officer are <br />shown below: <br /> <br />1 Investigate or assist in investigating all crimes with Juvenile suspects. <br /> <br />2. Do follow up investigations on juvenile crimes as requested by the <br />prosecutor's office. <br /> <br />3. Question and take statements from juvenile suspects. <br /> <br />4. Refer juveniles arrested into the Juvenile Justice System when appropriate. <br /> <br />5. Notify and meet with parents of juvenile suspects to inform them of our <br />contacts with their children and explam what we plan to do and what they <br />need to do. <br /> <br />6. Arrest and/or counsel with juveniles who violate our daytime or nighttime <br />curfew. <br /> <br />7. Maintain a file on juvenile gang members and their crimes. <br /> <br />8. Counsel with juvenile gang members or potential juvenile gang members. <br /> <br />9. Attempt to get juveniles to participate in activities designed to build good- <br />character and self-esteem, such as, Boys Club, Police Athletic League, Little <br />League Baseball, Boys Scouts, Girl Scouts, School Athletics and motivate <br />them to stay in school. <br /> <br />10. Cooperate with the DARE Program. <br /> <br />11. Prepare and deliver programs to citizen groups, civic organizations, schools <br />and anyone else interested concerning juvenile crimes, problems, concerns <br />and offer and receive suggestions for solutions to these problems. <br /> <br />12. Conduct himself in a manner to always be a good example and/or role model <br />for the children to admire and follow. <br />
