<br />For a call for service, traffic stop, field interview (FI) or other data items originating in CAD, the <br />initial entry into the data base is through the CAD. From this initial entry on, information about <br />the event continues to accumulate in the data base as it becomes available. The system tracks <br />the incident from the initial data entry to the final clearance and tracks suspects, those arrested, <br />other persons, vehicles, weapons, M.O.'s, stolen property, evidence, results of State Criminal <br />Justice SystemlNCIC inquiries, narrative, supplements, etc. without redundancy in data entry. <br /> <br />The Law Enforcement Records Management System has the standard features discussed in the <br />Introduction section of the overviews and contains several advantageous specific features <br />including those discussed below. <br /> <br />Management Info.'mation - Information is processed and made available to department <br />managers which helps them to manage the department more efficiently in day to day operations. <br /> <br />The data required by management is collected automatically during the initial data entry and <br />follow-up process. The RMS allows for the following: <br /> <br />Tracking cases <br />Summarizing activities <br />Reviewing cases <br /> <br />Preparing reports <br />Analyzing/distributing case loads <br />Evaluating personnel performance <br /> <br />Management information reports include the following categories: <br /> <br />Event Tracking - The Event Tracking programs of RMS allow for monitoring and <br />reviewing calls and cases assigned to individual persons. In addition, the programs give <br />information on how and when cases were cleared and the class and location of each case <br />assigned to the investigator. <br /> <br />The complete event tracking module is provided to assist investigation supervisors in the <br />tracking of investigations. These reports give supervisors information concerning case <br />loads, officer performance, and status of individual cases. All of the case tracking <br />facilities allow the supervisor to immediately review any case file without exiting to <br />another procedure and having to re-key the case number. <br /> <br />Programs also detail events assigned and/or cleared by each patrol officer. Separate <br />reports have been tailored for the tracking of patrol activities. <br /> <br />Statistical Reporting - Several statistical programs are available to assist management in <br />the decision making process including the following types of reports: <br /> <br />. Response Repo..t - This report details the times of response by priority of calls <br />for service providing the average, the slowest and quickest response levels for <br />each category. In addition, the breakdown separates the actual response delay, <br />(time of travel by officer) from the communications delay, (time required to <br /> <br />15 <br />
