<br />RESOLUTION NO. 98-179 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Council of the City of Paris <br />that there is a need for water service in an area of Paris, and that such need could be best served <br />by a pro rata water main extension beginning at U.S. Highway 82 East and continuing south along <br />47th Street S.E. to Old Clarksville Road, thence west a distance of approximately 1,500 feet, <br />thence north and northwest to the intersection of an existing 6" water main located on 42nd Street <br />S.E., said extension to serve adjacent properties along the route and the Paradise Estates <br />Subdivision; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary for the protection of the health and welfare of the <br />above-described area for the City of Paris to extend the above-described line and act in the <br />capacity of sponsor under the terms of Section IX of Subdivision Ordinance No. 1315 of the City <br />of Paris, with any refunds due under the pro rata charges being paid to the City of Paris water and <br />sewer fu~d; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, preliminary plans, specifications, and an estimate of the total cost of the <br />project were prepared by the City Engineer and delivered to the City Manager and considered at <br />the regular Council Meeting on the 12th day of November, 1998, and public hearings concerning <br />the same were held on the 10th and 14th days of December, 1998; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, after hearing the matters presented at the public hearings, the City Council <br />is of the opinion that it is in the best interests of the citizens of Paris, and particularly the citizens <br />in the vicinity of the proposed project, that the City of Paris act as sponsor for said project, which <br />is necessary for the protection of health and welfare in this area; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, such project should be known as the "Paradise Estates Pro Rata Water Main <br />Extension Project," which has a total estimated cost of $152,697.75; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the front foot method would be equitable and is the method described on <br />Exhibit A attached hereto; NOW, THEREl"ORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that the <br />pro rata water main extension beginning at U.S. Highway 82 East and continuing south along 47th <br />Street S.B. to Old Clarksville Road, thence west a distance of approximately 1,500 feet, thence <br />north and northwest to the intersection of an existing 6" water main located on 42nd Street S.E., <br />said extension to serve adjacent properties along the route and the Paradise Estates Subdivision, <br />containing approximately 10,660 linear feet of P.V.C. water main line, be, and the same is <br />hereby, approved and shall be known as "Paradise Estates Pro Rata Water Main Extension <br />Project"; and, <br />
