<br />RESOLUTION NO.98-137 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the 1968 Mack Pumper No. CF611F-1064 has been removed from service <br />and is no longer being used by the City of Paris Fire Department; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said pumper can no longer meet the State of Texas requirements for a front- <br />line engine and, therefore, does not assist the City of Paris in meeting its requirements in order <br />to maintain an advantageous fire rating; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said pumper still has value as a piece of fire fighting equipment, but should <br />be declared to be surplus property to the City of Paris and disposed of in accordance with state <br />law; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Texas A&M University at Commerce, Texas, is establishing a fire academy <br />and fire degree program, and they are desirous of purchasing said pumper for use in providing <br />various training benefitting Paris and other cities across Northeast Texas, said purchase being for <br />$1.00 and the further consideration of allowing ten (10) Paris recruits to attend basic training at <br />one-half (1/2) the regular price; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Paris that <br />said pumper be declared surplus and sold to Texas A&M University; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that the <br />1968 Mack Pumper No. CF611F-1064, be, and the same is hereby, declared to be surplus <br />property; and, <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the sale of said Pumper to Texas A&M University <br />for $1.00 and the further consideration of allowing ten (10) Paris recruits to attend basic training <br />at one-half (1/2) the regular price, be, and the same is hereby, approved. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this the 14th day of September, 1998. <br /> <br />c4Y/ <br /> <br />Charles H.
