<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006-036 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION FOR A JUSTICE <br />ASSISTANCE GRANT PROGRAM (JAG) GRANT; AUTHORIZING THE <br />EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS FOR A LAMAR COUNTY FELONY CRIMES <br />UNIT; ACCEPTING SAID GRANT AWARD UPON NOTICE THEREOF; <br />AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS <br />NECESSARY FOR ACCEPTANCE AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID <br />GRANT UPON NOTICE THEREOF; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, <br />Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG), provides funding for local law enforcement grants; <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Par is has been notified of the availability of funding under said <br />Grant Program, and it is deemed appropriate that the City of Paris make application for the <br />funds available to develop the Lamar County Felony Crimes Unit to continue to improve local <br />law enforcement in the City of Paris; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing a grant <br />application for the development of said Felony Crimes Unit to be operated for a period of 18 <br />months beginning Aprill, 2006 and ending September 30, 2007; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris has agreed that in the event ofloss or <br />misuse of the Criminal Justice Division funds, City Council of the City of Paris assures that the <br />funds will be returned to the Criminal Justice Division in full; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the Mayor, City Manager, and <br />appropriate City staff to accept and implement said grant (if same is received) without further <br />action of City Council; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF P ARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. That an application be made to the United States Department of Justice, <br />Bureau of Justice Assistance, for a Justice Assistance Grant Program grant (JAG) for the <br />development of the Lamar County Felony Crimes Unit. <br />
