A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF THE PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, <br />APPROVING THE ASSIGNMENT OF THE LEASE AGREEMENT FOR <br />LEGION AIRPORT PROPERTIES WEST OF NORTHWEST 19TH STREET, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, DATED OCTOBER 1,1980 BETWEEN THE CITY OF <br />PARIS AND COX SOUTHWEST HOLDINGS, L.P.; MAKING OTHER <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND <br />DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />A Motion to approve this item was made by Council Member Manning and seconded <br />by Council Member Fisher. Motion carried, 6 ayes - 0 nays. <br /> <br />7. Discussion of future for the Drug Task Force. <br /> <br />Chief Louis informed Council that as of March 31, 2006, there would no longer be <br />funding for the Regional Drug Task Force. Council Member Ray commended the Drug Task <br />Force and stated that Council needed to do whatever they could to continue to fight the drug <br />problem. <br /> <br />9. RESOLUTION NO. 2006-036: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION <br />FOR A JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT PROGRAM (JAG) GRANT; <br />AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS FOR A FELONY CRIMES <br />UNIT; ACCEPTING SAID GRANT A WARD UPON NOTICE THEREOF; <br />AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS <br />NECESSARY FOR ACCEPT ANCE AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID GRANT <br />UPON NOTICE THEREOF; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS <br />RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Chief Louis asked Council to consider this Resolution to allow them to apply for a <br />grant for a felony crimes unit. Chief Louis explained this unit would include drug law <br />violations and that there would be no cost to the City. Tony inquired as to when we will <br />know if this program will be fully funded. Chief Louis told Council he thought that we <br />would know something by April 1 st, because he was informed that the plan was for the <br />program to be in operation by that date. Chief Louis stated that if the unit does really well <br />in the first year, he feels like we can get the grant for four years. Council Member Manning <br />said it was imperative that we continue this type of program. <br /> <br />A Motion to approve this item was made by Council Member Ray and seconded by <br />Council Member Manning. Motion carried, 6 ayes - 0 nays. <br />
