<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006-044 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, CERTIFYING SUPPORT FOR THE STATEWIDE <br />TRANSPORT A TION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM NOMINATION FORM <br />2006 WITH THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR <br />THE APPLICATION TO RECEIVE FUNDING TO EXTEND THE TRAIL <br />DE PARIS; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL <br />DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR ACCEPTANCE AND <br />IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID GRANT UPON NOTICE THEREOF; <br />MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE <br />SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation provides funding for Statewide <br />Transportation Enhancement Program grants, and the Cities of Paris and Reno wish to undertake <br />projects to improve the safety and efficiency of movement of pedestrians and bicyclers; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the recently completed Trail de Paris, which is a pedestrian and bike trail, is <br />a viable and important asset to the City of Paris, local schools, and local businesses, and the <br />extension of the Trail for approximately three (3) miles from Loop Highway 286 S.E. in the city of <br />Paris and continuing through the city of Reno near to its southeastern city limit line will accomplish <br />the intentions of both Cities; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing a joint <br />application with the City of Reno for the Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program grant for <br />the extension of the Trail de Paris, in the amount of approximately $800,000.00, being 80% of the <br />estimated cost of the transportation enhancement project, with approximately $200,000.00 to be <br />provided in the form of locally raised donations of funds, services, or materials; NOW, <br />THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the City of Paris, as fiscal agent, agrees to co-sponsor, with the City of Reno, <br />an application to the Texas Department of Transportation for a Statewide Transportation <br />Enhancement Program grant for extension of the Trail de Paris approximately three (3) miles from <br />Loop Highway 286 S.E. in the city of Paris and continuing through the city of Reno near to its <br />southeastern city limit line. <br />
