<br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD <br /> <br />~overnber16t2005 <br />Aikin Building <br />23 East Plaza <br />3:00 p.m. <br /> <br />A meeting of the members of the Paris Main Street Advisory Board was held Wed. November 16, <br />2005 at 3:00 p.m., at the Aikin Building. Beth Golden, Main Street Coordinator, presided. <br /> <br />PRESENT: Barbara Wilson <br />Drew Crawford <br />David House <br />Linda Knox <br />Suzy Harper <br /> <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Bailey Gant (Alt.) <br />Renee Harvey (Alt.) <br />Pike Burkhart (Alt.) <br />Zach Saffle (Chairman) <br />Walt Brown (Alt.) <br />Jennifer Long <br /> <br />Beth Golden called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. <br /> <br />October 19, 2005 minutes were reviewed by advisory board members and a motion was made by <br />Suzy Harper to approve the minutes as prepared. Linda Knox seconded and minutes were <br />unanimously approved. <br /> <br />Committee Reports <br />} Organization Committee - Did not meet outside the meeting that was held previously with <br />TXDOT. A consensus has been reached to have new entry way signs erected, downtown <br />directional signage erected and to clean up unnecessary signage. Several members of the <br />main street advisory board have been involved in TXDOT planning meetings and will <br />continue to contribute to this project. <br />} Promotions Committee - A meeting is scheduled for December 6th to discuss some of the <br />2004/2005 goals. The group wishes to focus on the establishment of a Main Street website and <br />production of new marketing material for tourists. The group also discussed collaborating <br />with the downtown merchants group on this project. <br />} Design Committee - No committee meeting was held. However, at the meeting we discussed <br />purchasing new trash receptacles for the inside/outside of the plaza. Early estimates show <br />approximately $500 a can and the ultimate goal is 24 cans. 4 for the inside of the plaza, 4 for <br />the outside of the plaza and 2 for each of the streets leading to and from the plaza (8 streets). <br />The group also took this opportunity to discuss the current downtown decorations (lights <br />wrapped around antique lights/trees). The group agreed they didn't like the look and <br />requested they be taken down. Coordinator will ask parks/recreation to take them down. <br />Banners need to be purchased for new antique light poles as well as additions for current <br />Christmas banners.
