<br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF TIlE LIDRAR Y <br />ADVISORY BOARD <br />April 20, 2006 <br /> <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday, April 20, <br />2006, at 4:00 PM in the library. The following board members were present: Debbie <br />Anderson, Sarah Gambill, Deborah Hatley, Bill Kennedy, Audrey Lakes and Fran <br />Neeley. Also attending were Priscilla McAnally, Library Director and Amanda Green, <br />Friends of the Library president. <br /> <br />The minutes from the March meeting were approved. <br /> <br />The budget report was favorable. <br /> <br />Pending City Council approval, Eddie Pool will serve as a new Library Advisory Board <br />member beginning in May. Term expiration for current members Jackie Alsobrook and <br />Sarah Gambill will be in June. <br /> <br />March circulation was down 9.6% from the same month of2005, and library visits were <br />down 4%. A total of224 new items were added to the collection in March. 124 new <br />library cards were issued. <br /> <br />Memorial donations for March were $480. <br /> <br />There were 8 Children's programs with 70 children and 59 adults attending. <br /> <br />Friends of the Library president Amanda Green reported that there are 80 reservations for <br />the April 24 Spring Luncheon. <br />$80-$150 is continuing to be collected weekly from book sales in the library lobby. <br />Work to organize the Reach Out and Read program is ongoing. <br /> <br />New part-time employee and former library volunteer Tonya Herman, joined the staff <br />this month. Ms. Herman will work with Children's Librarian Emily Kirkman on the <br />Thursday program for 3- to 5-year-old children. <br />Mrs. Kirkman and library employee Lee Igo, will attend the Texas Library Association <br />annual conference in Houston, Texas on April 25. <br /> <br />New furniture purchased for the library should arrive by the middle of May.
