<br />WHEREAS, tl1e United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, Local
<br />Law Enforcement Block Grants Program, provides funding for local law enforcement grants; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing a grant
<br />application for an AS400 Computer, radar equipment, and overtime for the Police Department,
<br />at a total cost of $161,209.00, with $145,088.00 to be provided by grant and $16,121.00 to be
<br />provided by the City of Paris in the form of local funds; NOW, THEREFORE,
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
<br />
<br />1. That an application be made to the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of
<br />Justice Assistance, for a Local Law Enforcement Block Grants Program grant in the amount of
<br />$145,088.00, being approximately 90% of the estimated cost of the AS400 Computer, radar
<br />equipment, and overtime for the Police Department, with the City of Paris providing $16,121.00
<br />in the form of local funds.
<br />
<br />2. That Michael E. Malone, City Manager of the City of Paris, be, and he is hereby,
<br />appointed as the Auiliorized Official of said project and is authorized and directed to execute, on
<br />behalf of the City of Paris, the application for grant in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A.
<br />
<br />3. That Karl Louis, Chief, Paris Police Department, be, and he is hereby, appointed
<br />as Project Director and is hereby authorized and directed to execute and deliver, on behalf of the
<br />City of Paris, all reports, communications, assurances, and documents necessary for the
<br />completion of said project.
<br />
<br />4. That W. E. Anderson, Director of Finance, be, and he is hereby, authorized and
<br />directed to serve as the Financial Officer for said project and to receive and distribute funds for
<br />the AS400 Computer, radar equipment, and overtime for the Police Department.

<br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this 13th day of July, 1998.
