RESOLUTION NO. 96-007 WHEREAS, a special election was held by the qualified voters of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on the 20th day of January, 1996, for the purpose of voting on proposed amendments to the Charter of the City of Paris; and, WHEREAS, as required by Order of the District Court of the United States for the Eastern District of Texas, Paris Division, in Civil Action No. P-75-3-CA, and as provided in the Charter of the City of Paris and the laws of the State of Texas, wherein they do not conflict with said Order, such election was conducted and held at seven (7) specified and designated polling places, that is, one polling place each in Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and, WHEREAS, sealed returns of said election, made by the duly appointed and designated election officials of and for the seven (7) respective voting boxes, have been made to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Paris as required by law, which returns, after due and deliberate review and canvass thereof, show the following results of said election, to-wit: A. PROPOSITION NO. 1 - Shall Sections 4, 8, 16 and 20 of the Charter of the City of Paris be amended to reflect the currently established seven single-member voting districts in which each councilman must be a bona fide resident of the district for which he seeks election and can be voted for only by the residents of that district? 1. IN DISTRICT ONE (1) A TOTAL OF 50 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: Yes 39 No 11 2. IN DISTRICT TWO (2) A TOTAL OF 36 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: Yes 28 No 8 3. IN DISTRICT THREE (3) A TOTAL OF 138 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: Yes 87 No 51 4. IN DISTRICT FOUR (4) A TOTAL OF 95 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: Yes 72 No 23 5. IN DISTRICT FIVE (5) A TOTAL OF 88 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: Yes 70 No 18 6. IN DISTRICT SIX (6) A TOTAL OF 124 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: Yes 104 No 20 1
