<br />L. 337 E. Washington; Lot 14, City Block 146 - The house to the east of this property <br />caught on fire and the fire spread to this property and burned out the side. Mr. Doug <br />Kelley, 1685 CR 42400, the owner, stated that the property is tied up in court. Mr. <br />Kelley said that the house needs tearing down. He sold the house in 1998 to Dan and <br />Rita Kirkland. The people have only about 2 years to pay it off. The house caught <br />fire on July 1, and on July 25 Mr. Kelley had a bid to tear the house down. Mr. <br />Kelley was served with a lawsuit and which delayed the demolition. Mr. Kelley is <br />asking for an extension until it is through the courts. Robert Talley stated that the <br />entire west side is probably secured. John Lestock recommended that the <br />Commission continue this matter 30 days to the next meeting to determine if the <br />litigation will take a long time or short time. Motion made by David Nabors, <br />seconded by Steve Brown to table for 30 days to look at it again. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />o. 1600 W. Shiloh; Lot 16, Block 6, Colonial Addition - Ms. Rosemary Watson, Ms. <br />Dake's daughter, 640 W. Connor, spoke on her behalf stating that her mother passed <br />away. They have a potential buyer but she has a brother they will have to try to <br />contact. Ms. Watson would like a 30 day extension. The house is secured. Motion <br />was made by Chad Brown, seconded by Zach Saffle to allow 60 days for demolition <br />and if the structure is not demolished within 60 days, the City will demolish with a <br />$1,000 per day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />M. 2193 E. Cherry; Lot 1, City Block 258-A - The owner of this property is Joe <br />Grizzle. There has been no contact with Mr. Grizzle. The windows are broken out <br />and the inside is in bad shape-probably 70-80% gutted. Robert Talley stated the <br />property was probably a drug haven. Chad Stevens, 3935 Miranda Drive, for Re- <br />Max stated that he is trying to work out a deal to sell the property. Mr. Stevens is an <br />intermediary between the buyer and seller, he does not represent either. Mr. Stevens <br />had a letter of intent to purchase the property dated September 9, 2006. The buyer <br />and seller have, agreed but there are some financial issues with the buyer. The seller <br />asked Mr. Stevens to speak on his behalfto inform and verify that there is a contract <br />versus just the word of mouth from the seller himself. Motion was made by David <br />Nabors, seconded by Chris Brown to allow 90 days to repair or demolish. If the <br />property is not repaired or demolished within 90 days, the City will demolish with <br />a $1,000 per day civil penalty. <br /> <br />Motion was made to amend the previous motion by Harrell Tippitt, seconded by <br />Lucius Joe to include that the property be completely secured within 14 days.
