Minutes Traffic Commission City of Paris The Traffic Commission met in regular session, Tuesday, October 3,2006, at 5:15 P.M. in the Municipal Courtroom with the following members present: 1. Ed Ellis 2. Ed Seidle 3. George Kimbrough 4. Jon McFadden 5. Mary Walthall 6. Ray Banks The city staff was represented by Assistant Chief of Police Bob Hundley. The meeting was called to order at 5: 19 by Chairman Ed Ellis. Minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted with no corrections or comments. Mr. Ellis then moved to item #3 a request to establish a stop sign for westbound traffic on SE 47th Street at the intersection of Eastgate Drive. AC Hundley was asked for comment. AC Hundley replied that state law already requires vehicles to stop and yield the right of way at "T" intersections on the roadway that terminates into the intersection. Even though, he had received complaints from residents in the area requesting the stop signs as there had been some near collisions. Item's #3, 4, 5, and 6 were all stop signs at "T" intersections in the new addition located off of SE 47 Street between Eastgate Drive and Stephens Lane. Mr. Banks made a motion to deny the request, seconded by Jon McFadden. Mr. Ellis asked if they wanted to group these items together, they were and the motion to deny the stop signs passed 6-0. Staff reports included information regarding the construction set to begin quite soon on moving utilities in the area of Pine Mill Road and the Loop for the construction of the overpass. Construction is also set to begin on the right turn lane in the 500 block of NW Loop 286. Information was given to the commission regarding an alternate suggestion of building a new road from the entrance ramp off of N, Main leading to the NW Loop that would have taken most plant traffic off of the NW Loop. TXDOT has made the determination that they would continue with the right turn lane as planned. r-'
